ELIGIBILITY

  • The competition is open to full-time graduate students at the Doctoral or Masters level.

  • The students must not currently have a federal or provincial scholarship but have to agree to apply to federal or provincial funds (if eligible) within 12 months of having received the funds.

  • The students must not have obtained the CCEIP studentship.

  • The students must be currently conducting the described research, or will begin conducting the research by September 2025 at the latest, under the supervision of a research investigator member of the Network and affiliated to a Canadian university.

  • Students receiving a Studentship will be required to inform the Network if they receive any other external studentship or scholarship for their graduate studies during the first 6 months. Should they receive a full scholarship (ex., CIHR or SSHRC), we will suspend the following payments in order to allow the next candidate on the list to obtain a stipend, albeit smaller.

  • Students receiving a Studentship will be asked to present their research at the Canadian Network for Research in Schizophrenia and Psychosis meeting and/or at the CCEIP meeting (if on early psychosis), towards the end of the studentship.

22-04-2024

The Canada Gairdner Momentum Award annually recognizes two mid-career investigators (typically 10-15 years past their first independent research appointment) working in Canada who in their last six active years have produced exceptional scientific research contributions with continued potential for impact on human health. Successful nominees will have produced a focused, cohesive body of scientific research which has made a significant impact in health research. Consideration will also be given to a nominee’s contributions to the growth and enrichment of the Canadian research community.

Quality nominations are essential to the evaluation process for this award. Nominations are active for the year of submission only and must be resubmitted in following years to be considered again. Two awards will be given each year. Awards cannot be shared. Initial submissions are due 11:59 pm PST on July 15 each year. Candidates can self-nominate or be nominated by others.
